Paying off Consors Finanz early: loan, store financing and Mastercard
Every Consors Finanz credit can be repaid early, and the route and the cost depend on whether you hold an instalment loan with a fixed term or a credit line attached to a Mastercard.

The lender behind Consors Finanz is BNP Paribas S.A. Niederlassung Deutschland, the German branch of BNP Paribas. Its website and forms are in German, so this guide uses the German names you will see there.
Three contracts under one name
- Ratenkredit
- The Online-Kredit or Top-Kredit, an instalment loan: a fixed sum, fixed monthly instalments, a fixed term. Consors Finanz states that the borrowing rate is fixed for the whole term.
- Finanzierung im Handel
- Financing signed at a partner shop or online store. Consors Finanz books the purchase on a credit line, a Verfügungsrahmen, and gives you a Mastercard with it. A separate rate can apply to certain purchases and periods.
- Mastercard on Ratenzahlung
- A credit line with no end date and a variable borrowing rate, set to Ratenzahlung by default. The balance stays on the card and is repaid in monthly instalments. This is the card’s revolving mode, often called Teilzahlung in German.

Ratenkredit: extra payment or full repayment
Consors Finanz says you can repay the Online-Kredit early at any time or shorten its term with extra payments (Sonderzahlungen), and § 500 paragraph 2 of the German Civil Code (BGB) gives you that right for every consumer loan. You ask through contact forms in the Hilfe-Center (help centre), linked from the help page for your loan under “Früher schuldenfrei”. According to Consors Finanz, online banking shows only the amount drawn on your card, not a loan balance.
- For the current balance, use “Kontostand anfragen”. Consors Finanz says the answer comes within a few working days.
- To clear the loan, fill in “Komplette Rückzahlung” with the day you want to pay and ask for the settlement figure (Ablösebetrag) for exactly that day.
- For a part payment, use “Sonderzahlung”.
- Transfer only once you have the figure, and keep the confirmation that the contract is closed.
The Ablösebetrag is the remaining principal, the interest up to the settlement day and, if the contract provides for one, the early repayment compensation. A Zins- und Tilgungsplan shows how much of each instalment is interest and how much is Tilgung, the part that reduces the debt, and you can ask for one at any time under § 492 paragraph 3 BGB. Consors Finanz sends it by post and refers to its price list for any fee.

What paying off a Ratenkredit costs
The saving is in the interest. Under § 501 BGB the total cost falls by the interest and charges of the term you no longer use, and in proportion for an extra payment.
Against that may stand a Vorfälligkeitsentschädigung, compensation for early repayment. § 502 paragraph 1 BGB allows it only where a fixed borrowing rate was agreed when the contract was signed, and a Consors Finanz Ratenkredit has one. Whether Consors Finanz charges it is stated neither on its Online-Kredit page nor on the help page for loans, so your contract decides. A lender that intends to claim it must set out the calculation method under Article 247 § 7 paragraph 1 number 3 of the Introductory Act to the Civil Code (EGBGB), and where that information is insufficient, § 502 paragraph 2 number 2 BGB rules the claim out.
For a general consumer loan like this one, § 502 paragraph 3 BGB caps the compensation twice: at 1 percent of the amount repaid early, or 0.5 percent when no more than a year remains until the agreed repayment, and in every case at the interest that would have been due over that period.
§ 500 BGB, Gesetze im InternetThe official German wording on early repayment. Paragraph 2 sentence 1 carries the right to settle a consumer loan early at any time, in part or in full.
§ 501 BGB, Gesetze im InternetThe official German wording on the cost reduction. Paragraph 1 cuts the total cost by the interest and charges of the remaining term.
§ 502 BGB, Gesetze im InternetThe official German wording on early repayment compensation. Paragraph 1 ties it to a fixed rate, paragraph 2 number 2 excludes it where the contract information is insufficient, paragraph 3 holds the ceilings.
Article 247 § 7 EGBGB, Gesetze im InternetThe official German wording on further contract information. Paragraph 1 number 3 requires the calculation method of the compensation where the lender intends to claim it.
Mastercard: getting out of Ratenzahlung
On Ratenzahlung the balance carries the variable rate in your agreement. Consors Finanz says the monthly instalment is never lower than the month’s interest plus the premium of any payment protection insurance (Restschuldversicherung) you hold, so an instalment close to that floor repays very little.
- Raise the instalment: in online banking go to “Meine Karte”, “Rückzahlung”, “In Raten zahlen” and “Saldo & Raten”, or use the banking app. The instalment you choose has an upper limit.
- Transfer an extra payment: to the IBAN at the top right of your statement, or to the collection account given in the Hilfe-Center with your contract number as the reference. Consors Finanz says this is free at any time, for the whole balance too.
- Put new purchases on Einmalzahlung (pay in full): they stay interest-free as long as you pay them in full by the due date.
Consors Finanz charges interest day by day and closes the statement on the 20th of each month, or the working day before when that is a weekend or holiday. An extra payment lowers the interest from the day it arrives, but one that arrives after the 20th shows up only in the next statement. If an instalment is still debited afterwards, Consors Finanz asks you not to reverse the direct debit.

Paying off store financing early
If you financed a purchase at a partner shop, the contract runs through your Consors Finanz Mastercard, Consors Finanz says, and everything above on the card applies. On its help page for financing customers it calls extra payments and full repayment free at any time, by transfer to the card account.
If a Ratenplan was agreed for the purchase, Consors Finanz says it is repaid in fixed instalments whether or not you keep using the card. Later spending runs separately at the minimum instalment and may carry a different rate.

When an instalment cannot be collected
- First comes a payment reminder with a new deadline, then two formal reminders (Mahnungen), each with a fee.
- Default interest runs from the date of default, five percentage points above the base rate under § 497 and § 288 BGB.
- Under § 498 BGB, Consors Finanz can only demand the whole balance of a loan repaid in instalments once at least two consecutive instalments are in arrears, reaching a statutory share of the nominal loan, and a two-week deadline has passed without payment.
- Consors Finanz says a payment break or deferral (Ratenaussetzung, Stundung) is possible after a phone call. Its price list sets a fee for moving or lowering an instalment and other plan changes.

Which contract first
With more than one contract running, anything overdue comes first, then the contract with the highest annual percentage rate (effektiver Jahreszins) in your papers. A financing agreed at zero interest comes last while its period runs.
When a counselling service is the better call
The app answers how long it takes. When the instalments together are more than what is left at the end of the month, a debt counselling service (Schuldnerberatung) can help. It can negotiate with your creditors, free of charge and bound by confidentiality.
Find a counselling centre, BAG-SBThe German federal association for debt counselling runs the directory of recognised centres. Advice there is free of charge.
Online debt counselling, CaritasFree and anonymous, without visiting an office. The answer comes in writing from a counsellor.
The app
In the app each contract becomes a pad with one sheet per month, and on top sits the day the last one ends. Record an extra payment and it takes sheets off, and you see how many days sooner you are done. Everything stays on the phone, with no account and no bank connection.
Common questions
- Can I repay a Consors Finanz loan early?
- Yes, any of its contracts, in part or in full, under § 500 paragraph 2 BGB. For a Ratenkredit you use the forms “Sonderzahlung” or “Komplette Rückzahlung” in the Hilfe-Center, for the card and store financing you transfer to the card account.
- Does Consors Finanz charge an early repayment fee?
- Not on the Mastercard or store financing, where Consors Finanz calls extra payments and full repayment free. On a fixed-rate Ratenkredit, § 502 BGB allows at most 1 percent of the amount repaid early, or 0.5 percent with a year or less remaining. Whether Consors Finanz charges it is in your loan agreement.
- How do I get the settlement figure from Consors Finanz?
- For a Ratenkredit, through the form “Komplette Rückzahlung” in the Hilfe-Center, giving the day you want to pay. Online banking does not show a loan balance. For the card and store financing, online banking shows the current balance.
- Does an extra payment shorten the term or lower the instalment?
- On a Ratenkredit, Consors Finanz says it shortens the term. A lower instalment is a separate plan change with a fee in the price list. On the card you choose the instalment yourself.
- How do I pay off Consors Finanz store financing early?
- Transfer to your card account, using the IBAN at the top right of the statement. Consors Finanz says you can repay the whole balance at any time, free of charge. Money that arrives before the 20th counts in that month’s statement.
- Does switching the Consors Finanz Mastercard to Einmalzahlung stop the interest?
- Only for new purchases. The balance already on the card stays on Ratenzahlung and keeps carrying interest, Consors Finanz says, until you pay it down with a higher instalment or extra payments.
